St. Lawrence Villa Maria
School of Nursing and Midwifery

Current project: Donation of a used ultrasound device. Still on its way to Uganda.

The St. Lawrence Villa Maria Institute, a nursing and midwifery school in the Kalungu district, has been in the ADEPT support programme since 2019. The institute is in the ownership of the Masaka Diocese. The Nursing and Midwifery School is closely linked to the Villa Maria Hospital, in its immediate neighborhood.

The following courses are offered at the training institute:

Diploma "Midwife" - Training period 1 1/2 years
Diploma "Nursing" - Training period 1 1/2 years
Certificate "Midwife" - Training period 2 1/2 years
Certificate "Nursing" - Training period 2 1/2 years
The St. Lawrence Villa Maria School offers 250 training places. Approximately 200 places are for the 2 1/2 year "Certificate" course and 50 for the 1 1/2 year "Diploma" course. The good training with relatively small classes for Ugandan standards, with 41 students per class, regularly leads to very good final results for the trainees.
